Before taxes and telecom fees. The fee guide states 18% on applicable payments; usage and add-ons can cost extra.

Confirm your allowance: official pages disagree on Startup minutes and included numbers. Small Business help limits forwarding to one recipient, while the plans page promotes multiple users and extensions. Confirm your setup; fair-use limits apply.

A separate number. Your existing phone.

  1. Caller dials your work number
  2. Software routes the call
  3. You answer on your phone
You choose the destination. Forwarding does not provide a person to answer for you.

Check billed minutes, not just talk time

In this hypothetical example, both routines contain 60 minutes of connected calls in one monthly cycle. Assume one billable call leg per call, with each call rounded up to a whole minute. This is not a verified 800.com billing rule.

Assumed whole-minute rounding applied to each call
Call routineConnected minutesBilled minutes
120 calls × 30 seconds60120
30 calls × 120 seconds6060

For each call, divide seconds by 60 and round up; then add those billed minutes. Rounding the monthly total once would miss the difference.

Before comparing an allowance, confirm the selected provider’s increment, when billing starts and stops, which call legs count, and whether menus, queues or hold time count. Unknown rules do not establish a billed quantity or charge. These examples do not choose a plan, resolve the allowance conflict above or calculate a bill.

Telnyx documents examples of per-call billing increments; that source does not establish 800.com’s rule or equivalent service scope. Keep an adequate existing phone setup where it meets your needs.

Can I text customers as soon as my number works?

A working voice number or an incoming text does not mean outbound SMS is approved. 800.com requires messaging registration before sending.

  1. Check that your chosen plan and number support the intended texts. Toll-free and local-number registration use different paths.
  2. Submit accurate business, message-use and customer opt-in details in 800.com, then wait for its approval confirmation before relying on outbound texts.
  3. Check registration and usage charges for your number type. Receiving texts and voice calling are separate checks; keep another contact method while approval is pending.

Registration guidance checked October 29, 2026. Approval timing, delivery and SMS add-on eligibility are not promised here.

Forwarding to another country?

800.com supports calls originating in the US or Canada. International forwarding needs a $100 enablement deposit, held separately and not credited toward usage.

Destination-specific per-minute rates are extra, separate from domestic minutes. Confirm the destination and rate before enabling it. International forwarding conditions.
