A second number keeps work calls separate. A receptionist handles calls while you are busy. Compare the people, phone features and availability you actually need before buying a bundle.

50/$125, 100/$175 or 200/$260 monthly live minutes. Virtual Phone and a business number are included: do not buy the same phone system again. FAQ first-month overage waiver; later extra minutes $1.75. The working-hours help page states Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–9 p.m. Eastern and Saturday 9 a.m.–7 p.m. Eastern, closed Sundays. Match those windows to your time zone and confirm the chosen contract because retained weekend statements differ. Software phone availability is separate from a person answering. No 24/7 human coverage is promised.
These product pages do not preselect a plan; confirm the live-minute tier and all used charges. Phone/reception cancellation must match the chosen monthly agreement. Cancellation is requested through the portal; confirm notice, the effective end date and final charges. The FAQ describes at least 30 days before the term ends; the terms describe service through the following month. Confirm which deadline and end date govern the chosen subscription. Official live-answering hours (source-specific observation October 25, 2026; pricing retains its existing review date).
No product-specific receptionist outcome sample was established in the reviewed customer accounts. Alliance office reviews are not receptionist reviews.
What happens if you cannot take the transfer?
In this hypothetical example, a sole owner handles project inquiries while working with clients. Choose the caller’s next step, not just a transfer feature:
No interruptions: request message-taking for later follow-up; confirm the information collected, delivery destination and who checks it.
Selected interruptions: if you want the caller announced before connection, confirm that behavior and what happens if you decline or do not answer. Ask who stays with the caller and whether the call returns for a message or reaches voicemail.
Outside your availability: agree a separate message, voicemail or forwarding path. Confirm staffed hours, time zone and holidays; your availability and the receptionist’s coverage are different checks.
A transfer attempt is not a completed conversation. Keep adequate existing routing or voicemail when a later callback meets the job. No successful connection, response time or continuous human coverage is promised.
Provider examples and limits
ReceptionHQ’s FAQ distinguishes message-taking without transfers from its transfer-capable service, and describes announcing the caller and returning to take a message if you do not answer. This is that provider’s stated workflow, not an Alliance plan entitlement. ReceptionHQ workflow explanation.
Alliance’s setup article, dated June 15, 2017, asks about message-taking, screening with message or voicemail fallback, and separate after-hours routing. This dated article does not establish the current instruction-update method; confirm how changes are made. Alliance setup questions.
800.com documents scheduled forwarding and voicemail; that does not establish human screening or an announced transfer. 800.com routing schedules.

A paid seat is a person’s plan access. A number is what callers dial. An extension routes a call; it does not establish another login or private permissions.
Explore the paid Workspace subscription. Numbers, calling, SMS, AI and other add-ons are separate; this homepage link does not select a plan.

Texts and destinations
Business texting may need registration and recurring campaign charges. Count qualifying campaigns separately from seats and numbers. Confirm the exact calling countries and international rates.
A VoIP number does not promise bank-code acceptance, cellular replacement or eligibility while living abroad.
Live answering
Compare expected live minutes, rounding, transfers, appointment tasks and coverage in the right time zone. Automated phone minutes and a person answering are different units.
After-hours voicemail, AI answering and a human receptionist are different services. Ask what actually happens when someone calls.

One Quo Starter user for three months: three monthly $19 payments are $57 base; the annual purchase is $180 cash for twelve paid months. A $45 three-month allocation is not the annual signup bill. Taxes, used extras, eligibility and later renewals still need confirmation.
Two Starter users, three numbers, one assumed qualifying $1.50 texting campaign: $38 seats + $5 extra number + $1.50 campaign + $19.50 registration = $64 first-month known portion; $44.50 later before other unknowns.
At 80 live minutes, compare allowances
For an ordinary later month, Alliance’s 50-minute plan is $125 + 30 × $1.75 = $177.50; 100 minutes is $175 and 200 minutes is $260, before unpriced charges. The first-month overage waiver can make Live 50’s initial known base $125. The $30 phone system is already included, so do not add it again.

When you answer business calls yourself
Consider a business number and forwarding when you or a specific colleague will answer. Name who returns missed calls. A routing service does not supply a receptionist; keep an adequate existing phone and voicemail arrangement.
