Send a requested form
Success confirms transmission, not that a person has read or approved the document.
The free sending allowance is a one-time total, not a monthly refill. Check your remaining pages, destination rate and transmission time.
A manual credit top-up starts at $10 and does not create a subscription. Check the send-only option.
If the recipient accepts a suitable upload method you already have, use it without buying fax service.
Sending, receiving and equipment
You need internet, an account and the completed file or a scan of the paper. You do not need a fax machine, landline or your own fax number just to send. The recipient needs a working fax number. Receiving a fax back requires an eligible paid plan with a dedicated number.
One number. Separate logins.
Business and Enterprise can assign one number to several members.
- Member AOwn copy · 2 pages
- Member BOwn copy · 2 pages
- Member COwn copy · 2 pages
Each incoming copy uses plan pages or credits.
Shared Sent history and email copies
Shared Sent history needs Alohi Support activation; Outbox remains visible only to the sender.
For suitable non-HIPAA accounts, forwarding incoming faxes to email recipients is another option. Email recipients do not gain a Fax.Plus Inbox copy. Check access and data-handling fit.
Faxing Forms 2848 and 8821: choose the submission route first
Read Form 2848 instructions · Read Form 8821 instructions · Check the IRS online submission route
Choose the submission route first. For Form 2848, check line 4 only when the authorization is genuinely for a specific use. A specific-use authorization is not recorded on the CAF; send it to the IRS office handling the matter, not a CAF unit. Form 8821 has its own line 4 specific-use rule; when checked, follow its instructions to send the form to the office handling the matter.
Check the signature. Faxed or mailed Forms 2848 and 8821 require signatures handwritten in ink. Electronic signatures belong on the IRS online submission route. Buying signing software does not establish that the fax route accepts its output.
Choose the destination separately. For general CAF routing, start with the taxpayer’s location category in that form’s current instructions. For the international category, distinguish that taxpayer category from where the fax is being sent. A mailbox-service address or temporary travel location does not by itself determine the taxpayer’s filing category.

Routing reference checked October 30, 2026. Check the current form instructions and recent developments before sending; IRS destinations can change. The transmission-location column does not replace the taxpayer-location category.
The IRS upload service accepts ink-signed or electronically signed forms. Submit one form per upload and include its attachments in that file. Follow the IRS identity-verification and signature instructions. If you already sent the form by fax or mail, the IRS says not to submit it again through this upload service. A transmission result or upload acknowledgment does not establish that the IRS has processed or approved the authorization.
Keep tax documents off MailboxCompare: this reference does not collect forms, tax IDs or recipient numbers. Keep your own transmission record.

Annual prices are the full upfront subscription payment; allowances still reset monthly. Extra-page rates depend on the plan, and destination or duration multipliers can increase billable pages. Taxes and other applicable fees are additional.
US/Canada number porting requires Premium or higher. HIPAA with a BAA is listed only for Enterprise; confirm the agreement and your workflow before sending sensitive records.
Going above an allowance does not automatically mean you should upgrade. Compare the existing plan plus extra usage with the next plan, including any new commitment and features you actually need. This guide does not quote a universal fax total.

Keep the original and its record
Keep the original signed file and any signature audit record separate from its fax copy. Confirm the recipient accepts the document and delivery method. Compare Sign.Plus for collecting signatures if that is the job you need.
