VPM vs PostScan Mail: pickup or paid shipping for originals?
Compare two ordinary mailbox approaches by how you get wanted paper back, not only by their subscription headline. No new purchase is established until your actual requirements and provider conditions fit.
VPM vs PostScan Mail: how will you receive the originals?
An online scan and the paper original solve different jobs. If you need an original letter or package back, decide whether you must collect it in person or can pay to have it shipped. Keep an adequate existing mailbox or address arrangement when it already meets that need. This comparison uses retained supplier material reviewed November2–3,2026; it is not a current facility quote or a subscriber test.
Compare the way paper gets back to you
VirtualPostMail’s retained pricing and FAQ state that customer pickup is not offered. Receiving wanted originals therefore depends on paid shipping. A low mailbox subscription base is not the full cost of getting those originals.
PostScan Mail offers pickup where the selected center supports it. Capability, permission and price are separate: confirm that center’s collection hours, who may collect, authorization requirements and fees. The retained Oklahoma schedule contains conflicting pickup wording, so do not assume pickup is free or available at every address.
If pickup is mandatory, VPM’s ordinary mailbox is not a fit under that retained policy. PostScan is only a possible fit after confirming the actual center. If shipping is acceptable, compare both services using the same original-mail handling requirements rather than assuming that either is automatically cheaper.
Compare handling before deciding on a plan
For shipping, obtain the handling and carrier charge for the same contents, destination and required timing. VPM’s retained shipping guide separates postage and handling; PostScan also separates forwarding handling from postage. Neither a forwarding request nor a pending status proves dispatch or delivery.
Check how long the physical item can remain at the provider while you make that decision, when paid storage begins and whether requesting forwarding stops storage charges. Keep wanted paper out of disposal instructions. Receiving an item, opening it for a contents scan and forwarding the original are distinct services.
PostScan’s selected monthly and annual schedules can differ in allowances and free storage, as well as upfront price. Its general FAQ and pricing wording also differ. Confirm the actual center and term instead of silently using the larger allowance. Do not turn an annual monthly-equivalent price into a month-to-month or refundable commitment.
A qualified next step
Use the VPM guide if paid shipping may meet your needs. Use the PostScan guide to check selected-center handling and account requirements. If an adequate existing arrangement works, keep it.
The optional PostScan action below is for a new customer with an unmet personal-mailbox need who has confirmed that a selected center supports the required pickup and wants to explore a paid consumer mailbox. It does not reserve an address, carry a plan or quote to checkout, or establish free pickup. Digital Mailroom and other products are separate. Complete the provider’s paid registration and required USPS Form1583 process if you proceed.

These seven answers do not establish account eligibility or provider authority. Unknown eligibility keeps the paid action withheld.
No eligible paid action is established. Use the internal provider guides or keep an adequate existing arrangement.
