Separate adult setup, originals and destination-specific customs for Norway, Switzerland and Iceland.

Restoring your choices and current facts…

Living abroad · practical preparation

Keep US mail within reach.

Choose a US receiving address, arrange accepted signup from where you are, and make a separate plan for original documents. A scan can travel more easily than the paper.

Can everyone use the mailbox from abroad?

Receiving names, separate adult forms and private logins are different. A mailing address does not prove residence or bank acceptance.

Authorize each adult

Use separate current personal forms and two accepted ID types per adult. Choose an operator-approved witness or included route first. A foreign passport alone does not complete address verification.

Decide what stays physical

Exterior images, opened letters and pages are different allowances. Set action deadlines for originals; a quarterly dispatch can leave the oldest letter beyond free storage.

Plan originals and country checks →

Budget the full stay

A discounted annual base still needs twelve months paid upfront. Scans, shipping, used storage, notarization and exit remain separate. Save the same recipient and country choices across tools.

Destination differences that affect dispatch

These are USPS destination conditions; they do not establish provider acceptance, customs clearance or today’s carrier availability.

Norway

  • Goods declarations require a six-digit HS tariff code for each article.
  • The country conditions prohibit pharmaceuticals; alcohol, cosmetics and certain equipment have separate restrictions or approvals.
  • USPS country conditions, current service alerts and the chosen operator/carrier’s acceptance are separate checks.

Switzerland

  • Goods need a six-digit HS code. Include the recipient’s local phone number; it is mandatory for parcels addressed to a post-office box.
  • Duplicate invoices apply to commercial shipments and personal articles valued at $300 or more.
  • USPS country conditions, current service alerts and the chosen operator/carrier’s acceptance are separate checks.

Official destination conditions ↗

Iceland

  • Merchandise needs duplicate signed invoices with sender, item descriptions and values.
  • Meat products, tobacco and certain wireless receivers appear in the country’s prohibition list; check the actual goods before sending.
  • USPS country conditions, current service alerts and the chosen operator/carrier’s acceptance are separate checks.

Letter correspondence and merchandise have different customs needs. Confirm goods, declared value, invoice, destination contact and the operator’s own country restrictions.

RV and boating travel: plan when originals can reach you

A traveling household needs a forwarding routine as well as remote scans. SBI and MyRVmail are useful specialist comparisons; their exterior images, contents requests, prepaid balances and storage allowances differ. A mail-service address alone does not establish domicile or registration eligibility.

  1. Count adult and minor receiving names, and decide whether a shared dashboard is acceptable.
  2. Choose a dispatch interval around a real reachable stop; originals held between stops can outlast free storage.
  3. Compare per-envelope or content-page scanning with the letters you actually open. Keep postage and package handling separate.
  4. Confirm pickup hours or destination delivery before ordering dispatch, and set a disposal decision for routine originals.
